Practicing Grace

The heart of the entire matter is this ☝️ GRACE. Some would say love. ❤ I think it’s both. I don’t think it’s possible to have one without the other. They’re like twins reflecting each other’s image.

I heard a message this week at church on making amends where it doesn’t cause harm. I’m all about making amends, admitting my wrongs and asking forgiveness.

I’m also about giving people opportunities to change and grow. I know I’ve needed this same grace extended to me at various times in my life, and I try my best to give every person the benefit of the doubt…until I can’t.

It’s gotta be a drastic situation…like…
👉 you stole from a client I referred you to (automatic deal breaker)
👉 you maliciously and intentionally manipulated and/or abused me and/or others in some way
👉 you can’t control anger or habitual lying
👉 you refuse to take responsibility for your own self-inventory and healing

There are some things, that unless a person actually repents of them, no change is coming, and we aren’t required to be in relationship.

However, when enough time has passed, I’m still willing to reopen the lines of boundaried communication to – again – give them the benefit of the doubt and see if they might extend the same to me.

I’ve spent the last 5+ years in taking a serious holistic inventory of my life, and I’ve made serious changes, AND I still have a few more serious changes to make if I am to live as I was designed – to generously shower my circles of influence with my superpower of creative, honest connection that hopefully transforms in some positive capacity. It’s what gets me out of bed every day.

💫Who needs to be blessed?
💫Who needs to connect?
💫Who needs prayer?
💫Who needs someone to just hear them?
💫Who needs a hand up?
💫Who needs some gently honesty?
💫Who needs someone to shed tears with?
💫Who needs a belly laugh?
💫Who needs to unload a heavy burden?
💫Who needs encouragement?

These are all things I know I need time to time, and I’ve learned you gotta give it to get it. My entire life is defined by reciprocity. I have the business world to thank for that. My time in business networking taught me the BEST Practices, and they can be applied to every area of your life.

Essentially, it’s the Golden Rule. Regardless of your cultural differences in politics, religion, and geography, everyone can agree on treating others as you want to be treated. And when others break that universal rule, we have a responsibility to the world at large to extravagantly live out that rule to others. It’s the only way to counteract the death and destruction that comes with the opposite.
